OSP finds pound of meth in car near Yoncalla
YONCALLA, Ore. - Oregon State Police found a pound of methamphetamine during a traffic stop Tuesday morning.
According to OSP Lieutenant Doug Ladd, an OSP trooper stopped a 2008 Pontiac G6 displaying California license plates northbound on Interstate 5 near milepost 152 for a speed violation around 8 a.m. Tuesday.
The trooper arrested Douglas Maricio Melandez, 36, of Delano, Calif., after finding a pound of meth hidden in the trunk.
The drugs are valued at $14,000.
Melandez was arrested without incident and taken to the Douglas County Jail for Unlawful Possession and Distribution of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine.
OSP troopers from the Roseburg Area Command office and Drug Enforcement Section detectives are continuing the investigation.
