Woman killed when semi, pickup collide - then hit motel
BURNS, Ore. - A woman died when semi truck from Springfield, Ore., collided with a pickup and crashed into an abandoned motel on a remote stretch of Oregon highway Wednesday night.
Oregon State Police said Rey Solis, 50, of Eugene, Ore., was attempting to pass a Dodge pickup in a no-passing zone on Highway 20 east of Burns when the pickup driver tried to turn left and collided with the semi.
The crash killed 59-year-old Judith Hall. Her husband, injured David Hall, 68, was trapped in thewreckage of his truck for an hour and half.
Solis suffered minor injuries, police said. He was driving for Leavitt's Freight Service Inc. out of Springfield, Ore.
