ROSEBURG, Ore. -- Memorial services were held Tuesday for Devin Inge, who died in an accidental fire in his home on December 4.
Inge had been working as a Douglas County Parole and Probation Officer for the past 12 years, and served on patrol with the Roseburg Police Department for six years before that.
Hundreds of friends, family and loved ones gathered at the Hucrest Community Church of God, the same place where Devin and his wife were married.
Per the family's request, KPIC News did not take a camera inside at the service.
Those who spoke at the service remembered Devin as the man who always left everyone with a smile on their face.
He was a father, husband, son and friend, and those who knew him well say that his positive attitude impacted lives.
One friend said that Devin, dressed in his standard black pants and a black shirt, could always brighten his day, and that he was a better person for having known him.
Another friend said that Devin was the sort of person you liked right away, that he had an ease and grace, that made you feel instantly comfortable with him.
One mourner ended his speech by saying, "We are diminished by his absence, but we are not by his memory."
