CAVE JUNCTION, Ore. - A haz-mat team from Portland responded to a suspicious backpack found along a road 300 miles south on Saturday night.

Field tests confirmed the presence of red phosphorus, acid and solvent chemicals - chemicals associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine.

That confirmed the initial suspicions of Deputy Cory Krauss, who responded to the 400 block of North Sawyer Avenue in Cave Junction after residents noticed the backpack on the side of the road.
