12-year-old girl arrested after 'shooting' text

MYRTLE CREEK, Ore. -- A 12-year-old student at Coffenberry Middle School was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, after she allegedly generated a text about a shooting.
Police say that they were contacted by officials from the school at 1:15 p.m., after they were shown a text message that said, "there is going to be a shooting tomorrow."
Police say after an investigation, they discovered that the girl had sent the message to herself.
She was arrested and charged with first degree disorderly conduct, which is a Class A Misdemeanor.
The girl was cited and released to her mother.
Sounds more like the little girl was making a prediction, not a threat. This society is full of chicken little authoritarian pansies. Help us government! Take all our rights so we can be safe! Disgusting.
Peace, I have to ask... have you been drinking tonight or something? Because holy cow. You normally speak... different. =/
@PleaseBeSmart I think this individual is capable of speaking from multiple orifices. Kind of like high beams and low beams, at the flip of the wrist. One minute they are engaged in almost intelligent debate, then they digress into "yo momma" commentary.
@Twistthewrist @PleaseBeSmart ---guilty as charged. But, I like the part about "almost intelligent debate". Just got back from Happy Hour...hours ago...lots of pre-game...even more post-game. I will just take a time-out and be a spectator for a while. Cheers! Nostrovia!
While everyone is focused on losing their 2nd amendment rights, our 1st amendments went right out the window. How many stories have we heard this week about someone expressing something or a 3rd party hearing something. While I understand that people are still on edge by the tragedy last week, this witch hunt has just gotten ridiculous. Sure if there is a "viable" threat it should be investigated, but to charge all these people is simply enforcing a "watch what you say or we'll put you in jail" police state.
@Twistthewrist ---didn't your mamma' tell you, watch what you say OR you won't get fed OR I'll slap you? Maybe not, you were born with a silver spoon OR a maid.
@Twistthewrist ---for the last 50 years, we have to hear: watch what you say because you collect guns that get innocent people shot. The majority cannot roar because you have more guns.
@peace  @Twistthewrist If you are too meek to stand up for ALL your rights, then you shouldn't chastise those who are not. This country was built on those willing to voice there rights.
@Twistthewrist ---less than the number that died in civilian combat on our US territory.
@peace  @Twistthewrist And how many Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Air Force have died defending this countries beliefs and the foundations that they were forged from. Last week was a tragedy. But to say that all those service members lives were lost in vain because of a sick individual simply appalling.
@Twistthewrist ---teacher last week could not stand up, she just hunkered down to be shot like a dog while protecting your chastity. Did you want to be her ventrioloquist?
@peace  @Twistthewrist So McCarthyism has simply been replaced with terrorism. You are evil until proven otherwise. How sad that after how many decades we are in the same place we were at while fighting "the commies."
@Twistthewrist ---the "commies" were only a common enemy created by the elite so they could gamble with their inside info. whenever they played the stock market or Polo. All  wars were escalated by stock market speculation(AKA inside info). The Jap. Imperial Army were just pawns...so the elite could attack in places that thier corps. would need their corps. munition$. Why do you think nukes were invented? Just so, a secret weapon, could make the rich richer. Element of surprize kid. In war, the elite can control the roulette dial better than rain man can predict its outcome.

@peace That was... pretty incoherent, so I'm not going to respond to much of it. In no way are adolescent males inferior though, and you seem to have forgotten an orifice.Â

@peace You have lost your mind. Perhaps you should drink more. Or maybe a bit less. Is there an M theme I'm missing here? I've got the 13 theme, but there seems to be a lot of Ms.
but there IS going to be a shooting tomorrow...in Afghanistan
@Stooge Newton ---the only reason we are still in AFG is because they have the MOther Load of Lithium mines...to power our batteries into the 22nd century. Yhe Russkies tried to conquer it back in the 80s for that very reason. They gave up. Maybe we will give up too. All is not about God and Country. It is only about Rich people trying to get richer. Grow up Buckeroo!Â
The 12-year-old girl in this story and her parents need to receive family counseling and she needs to be punished, but is it really productive to arrest her and charge her with a crime. She is just a child. She needs to understand that what she did was wrong and why, but it seems to me that this "scare her straight" treatment could backfire and cause her irreparable emotional damage. This seems like an overreaction by the police typical of the behavior of authorities following a horrifying incident such as the recent school shooting. I do not claim to be an expert in child psychology or criminology, so this is just a gut feeling. Maybe some professionals could add their thoughts on this matter.
at twelve years of age and being a parent i sure the hell will be checking my childrens cell phone!! mine didnt even have cell phones at that age!! most kids these days are spoiled/not appreciative of whats givin to them and rude/inconsiderate/disrespectfull. and need parents that actually care about what there children are doing day to day! (just my opinion)
A girl that young should not have a cell phone period or even access to the internet.
Sent a message to herself - First question - why? Â Second question - who is looking at her private messages? Maybe she showed it to the school officials in an attempt to gain attention?
