Before throwing a birthday party Friday night, the residents of the home contacted neighbor Bennie Fields and asked him to let them know if they were too loud. "How many young people would come and let you know ahead of time that they were going to have a party and if it got out of hand to let them know?" said Fields, who has lived in his home for 25 years, the last year with Haines as a neighbor. Fields said he was aware of the party, which seemed like "a lot of happy kids having a good time." That changed around 11:30 p.m. "An awful lot of police cars showed up and it seemd to me like maybe a little bit of an over response by the police department," said Fields. "I didn't think it was out of hand."
