LaMichael James ran into trouble during the 2010 off season that put his playing status in jeopardy when police arrested him after a domestic dispute with an estranged girlfriend. James pleaded guilty in March 2010 to one of the five misdemeanor counts against him and was sentenced to 10 days jail and 24 months probation in Lane County Circuit Court in March 2010. He wound up spending about 25 minutes at the jail.
