EUGENE, Ore. - Alton Baker Park went to the dogs Sunday.
Close to 1,000 runners and walkers turned out for the annual "Bark in the Park" benefiting the Greenhill Humane Society.
Dogs and their people leashed up for the 5K and 2K run and walk in the park.
There was also other doggie activities, vendor booths and demonstrations.
"It's so much fun to see people who have something in common and to come together and just have a really good time and to do it for a great cause," said Greenhill's Denise Brittain.
Event organizers were hoping to take in close to $60,000 Sunday.
That money goes straight back to Greenhill to help out with general operating costs, including food and supplies for the animals.
It will also help close to 2,000 animals find homes this year.
