SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - As she pulled in to the dump station Sunday afternoon, Patty Lawrence could see the smoke.

Then she saw the fire.

"You could see the flames that were in the building," said Lawrence, one of the witnesses to the fire.

A pile of recyclables had caught fire at a materials processing center on E. 17th Avenue in the Glenwood area.

No one was hurt. Firefighters responded and knocked down the flames.

Investigators said the fire was likely caused by something smoldering in a load of recyclables.
