EUGENE, Ore. - The University of Oregon football program is in somewhat unfamiliar territory, especially for the guy who led the Ducks for 14 years but is still close to the program.
750AM The Game radio caught up with Mike Bellotti to ask the former Duck coach and athletic director turned college football commentator what he thinks about the inquiry into Oregon's recruiting practices.
Under Bellotti, the Ducks rarely found the Pac-10 or NCAA calling - and if they did, it was for minor violations.
"I have talked to Chip, and I feel it's more of a bad business deal than bad choices about how they do business," Bellotti told KXL. "Saying that, Chip feels like he's done nothing wrong, and I believe him in that regard. I don't know what's gone down with Will Lyles and all that. It's a shame because it puts a black eye on everything. But i think Oregon is still, honestly, a program that does it the right way."
Bellotti added that he does think the Ducks will be sanctioned by the NCAA.
