FBI joins hunt for 'armed and dangerous' suspect

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - The FBI has joined the hunt for a man considered "armed and dangerous" after a July 10 shooting that put a Springfield man in the hospital.

David Robert Friend Jr., 25, is wanted on a federal fugitive warrant.

Local law enforcement had lared obtained an arrest warrant charging Friend with burglary, assault, assault with a firearm, attempted murder with a firearm and interfering with making a report.

The FBI has posted information and photos of Friend online and distributed information to the media.

Investigators think Friend and another man forced their way into a Springfield home and shot a man who lived there as he struggled with the intruders. Friend's alleged accomplice is in custody.

Friend has known ties to the Riverside, Calif., and Alex, Okla., areas. Friend also goes by the nickname “DJ.”

Friend is described as a white man, 5-foot-9, 200 lbs with blue eyes and blond hair. He has tattoos all over his body, including his arms, chest, legs and feet.

He should be considered “armed and dangerous,” the FBI said. If you come in contact with Friend, do not approach him. Call 911.
