EUGENE, Ore. - A group opposed to the proposed West Eugene EmX line is offering $1,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or people vandalizing anti-EmX signs.
Representatives of Our Money Our Transit saod the problem has been going on for about a year. This past weekend, dozens of their signs and banners were defaced, ripped and torn.
"I just think it's some dumb, stupid person," said Robert Ruben.
Ruben said at least 45 small signs and three large banners along West 11th Avenue were stolen or damaged early Saturday morning.
Surveillance cameras caught the vandal on video.
"We want to catch this criminal for sure," Ruben said, "and if there are any others, we want to stop them."
The owner of Auto Craft said all four of his signs had to be replaced.
"He did about 50 more down the street," said Brent Woodrich, "so it was quite a mess he created, because he threw them out in the street."
With the $1,000 reward on the table, "I'm hoping his mother turns him in," he said.
Woodrich said a copy of the video has been sent to police, and that pictures from the tape will be printed on posters for display soon along West 11th.
