SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A teen died in her sleep early Saturday morning, leaving a community to grieve - and law enforcement to puzzle over why a young person died in her sleep.
Her family and friends of the 16-year-old Thurston High School gathered Tuesday night for a candlelight vigil. Details about a memorial service will be added to this story at the family's request.

There are no obvious causes of death, and the girl didn't suffer from any current illnesses, Detective Randy Femley with the Lane County Sheriff's Office told KVAL News.
"Right now it is a mystery," Femley said.
The sheriff's office has opened a death investigation and are awaiting toxicology reports.
