EUGENE, Ore. - A young guitarist from Eugene is still searching for her missing guitar, and she thinks the instrument was put up for sale on Craigslist.
The electric guitar belonging to 17-year-old Molly Guardino of Eugene was stolen while she was at the Lane County Fair.
A viewer contacted KVAL News about seeing a guitar for sale on Craigslist that matched the description of the instrument stolen from Guardino.
Guardino looked at the ad and thought the resemblance was almost identical.
"It looks like it, it has the same features, and it's the exact same type of guitar," Guardino said.
The young guitarist found it weird that a similar guitar showed up for sale on Craigslist.
"I was a little confused," Guardino said. "I wouldn't think they would put it on Craigslist, because that's obvious."
Guardino said she called Eugene Police when she saw the ad. She said police told her they were looking to see if it's the same guitar.
But the next day the ad had disappeared from Craigslist.
Guardino said this led her to believe her favorite instrument is out of reach forever.
"I'm guessing someone probably bought it," Guardino said.
As for the investigation, police said they have little leads in the theft.
"Thefts are up on our list, but without suspect information it's hard to follow up on something like that," said John Dunaway, a Community Service
Molly said she is not letting the theft get in the way of playing her guitar.
"I hope that they find it," Guardino said. "If not I can always use my other one."
