Local man's hobby to be featured on national television
One local man's hobby of collecting rocks is getting him some national attention.
Bradley Newport of Sweet Home is a self proclaimed rock hound - he's been collecting petrified wood with his father-in-law for the last few years.
He was more than delighted to find out the one hundred acre parcel of land he bought a couple of years ago was covered with petrified wood. Now the Travel Channel wants to feature Bradley on their show called, "Cash and Treasures."
"It's pretty exciting especially when the travel channel finding cash and treasures was my favorite show to begin with and when we started digging petrified wood I told my wife this would be a perfect spot for them," says Bradley Newport, rock collector.
With cooler temperatures and rainy weather, newport has to wait until summer to do anymore digging, so this time of year he's out with his kids polishing up his goods.
Each dig finds the Newports' with more treasures that can range in price from a few dollars to thousands.
You might be wondering how he cuts some of his pieces down. He has to use a circular saw with a diamond tip blade to. The episode will air next month on January 8th.
