EUGENE, Ore. - Dozens of activists took to Ken Kesey Square on Thursday to call for an end to the war in Afghanistan, which started a decade ago this month.

Peace activists tallied the costs of the war and said the U.S. would be much better off if, instead of fighting abroad, the country invested that money and manpower here at home.

"It's sort of the rallying cry is let's get them rather than let's look at home," said Lee DeBeau. "We need to take care of each other. We need to help each other."

Organizers said their event was inspired by the Occupy Wall Street protests happening all over the country, including in Eugene, Portland and Seattle.
