SOUTH OF CORVALLIS, Ore. -- A fatal crash on Highway 99 shut down the road for more than an hour Sunday morning.
Oregon State Police Trooper Steve Kenyon said the victim's Chevy Blazer drifted off of the westbound lanes around 8:00 a.m.
The car clipped a power pole before coming to rest.
The driver, Michael Jarred Corcoran, 21, from Corvallis was pronounced dead at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.
For an unknown reason, the vehicle drifted off the right shoulder into a ditch where it clipped a power pole and then came to rest off the highway.
Benton County Sheriff's Office, Corvallis Fire Department, ODOT and Pacific Power & Light assisted at the scene. No power outage occurred.
