Coach fired after hazing incident

CRESWELL, Ore. -- Thomas Carroll said he was "fired unfairly" from his post as the varsity boys soccer coach at Creswell High School. He told KVAL News he was terminated Friday, along with an assistant coach, Juan Ayala.

A parent told KVAL News the hazing incident happened on a bus ride home from a game in Cave Junction. According to the parent, who wanted to remain anonymous, older boys on the team pulled the freshman under a blanket, tied their hands behind their backs, and tried to pull down their shorts.

Earlier this week, KVAL News spoke with Creswell Principal Gary Mounce. At that time, Mounce said Carroll would not be disciplined. Calls to Creswell High School were not immediately returned on Sunday.

Carroll told KVAL News he is waiting to find out more information about an appeal process, and called the whole situation "frustrating," and "unfortunate." He said an interim coach would lead the team.
