Plane crash kills 1, injures 1 in Eastern Oregon
HEPPNER, Ore. (AP) — One person has been killed and another walked away from the crash of a small plane in Eastern Oregon, the Morrow County sheriff's department said
The East Oregonian reports the injured person sought help at a nearby farmhouse and was later airlifted to the hospital.
Sheriff Ken Matlack told the paper the plane was on its final approach late Wednesday to a small airport near Lexington, north of the county seat at Heppner.
The county operates an airstrip there for crop dusters and private aircraft. Matlack said family members were waiting at the airport.
Federal investigators were expected at the scene Thursday.
