OSU students from China killed in fiery car crash

CORVALLIS, Ore. - Two Oregon State students from China died early Wednesday morning in a fiery car crash west of Corvallis.

Police identified the driver as Fan Yu, 21, and Zhaoxuan Dong, 21. Both men were enrolled as international students at OSU.

Benton County Sheriffs Office and Oregon State Police at Oregon State University worked together to notify the victim's family and friends.

Neighbors reported the crash on Cardwell Hill Drive at 4:07 a.m. The 2011 BMW 335 2-door sedan crashed into a power pole, sparking a fire that engulfed the car and pole.

A preliminary investigation determined that speed and alcohol are contributing factors to the crash.
