Sheriff IDs man killed in hit-and-run

EUGENE, Ore. - The identity of the man killed in a hit-and-run accident late May 26 on 30th Avenue has been confirmed, the sheriff's office said.

Investigators have also narrowed down the kind of vehicle that hit the man and left the scene of the crash near Forest Boulevard just after 11 p.m. that night.

Timothy Arthur McCreary, 54, of Eugene died after being hit on his bike by a 1997 white Ford F150 that fled the scene, the Lane County Sheriff's Office said.

Another motorist happened upon McCreary in the road and attempted to help him when a second vehicle hit him.

The Ford that left the scene likely has front end damage, a damaged side mirror and possible windshield damage, investigators said.

The Sheriff's Office is asking anyone with information on this incident or the involved vehicle to contact the Lane County Sheriff's office (541-682-4141).
