Eugene 4J student data breach: Are you on the list?

EUGENE, Ore. - News that security had been breached on computer files containing private student information sparked a wave of phone calls to the Eugene School District 4J on Tuesday morning.

By mid-day, about 100 people had called the district.

Reactions have varied, district staff told KVAL News.

Some callers are angry. Others are understanding. Most are curious.

The top question: "Am I on the list?"

Next up: "Was my Social Security number among the data?"

The school district said staff are now prepared to answer that question, but that telephone is not the best way to field inquiries.

Instead, they ask current and former students and families who may have been affected by the data breach to visit or email
