Tasty Tuesday: Delacata

EUGENE, Ore. - When Stephen Sheehan moved to Eugene, he had a hard time finding a place that served the kind of food he grew up on in Mississippi.

While many people may find themselves giving up, Sheehan decided to take matters into his own hands.

Sheehan opened up his own food cart, bringing a taste of the south to the Northwest.  Most days you'll find Delacata in Downtown Eugene at the corner of 8th and Olive.  If it is not there you can always track it down by finding them on Facebook.

His desire to share staples of what some may describe as another culture or even world is not limited to the cuisine.  A big part of Sheehan's business is all about giving people a little sample of southern hospitality as well.

Some of the more unique menu items like aligator are shipped right from the source, but Sheehan finds most of his ingredients right here in the Northwest, giving him the opportunity to create a kind of fusion that blurs the lines just enough to make you second guess what part of the country you're in.
