Police: Man beat, raped woman in field off Coburg Road

EUGENE, Ore. - An 18-year-old woman sleeping in a field near businesses on Coburg Road reported being beaten and raped by a man early Wednesday morning.

Police responded to the field north of Southwood Lane just before 5 a.m. Officers conducted a search for the suspect and are following up with an active investigation.

The male attacker approached the woman where she had been sleeping in the field, beat hear and sexually assaulted her, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 20s, 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall, 175 pounds, with short brown and possibly buzz cut hair, brown eyes and a scruffy goatee.

He may have injuries and blood consistent with a struggle.
