Pieces of tsunami dock added to museum exhibit

PORTLAND, Ore. - Two pieces of the Japanese dock that washed up on the Oregon Coast this summer will be on display at the Oregon Historical Society in Portland as part of the "Treasures of the Vault" exhibit.
"When the Oregon Department of Parks and Recreation began the process of dismantling and removing the dock, I expressed our interest in obtaining a piece for our permanent collection," said Kerry Tymchuk, OHS Executive Director. "We are proud to be able to apply our unique resources to preserve and protect this fascinating piece of history."
The pieces of the dock that the Oregon Historical Society received are two metal boat tie offs, each weighing an estimated 20 pounds.
They will be on display starting Friday, August 31, in the "Treasures of the Vault" exhibit at the museum through December 30. Admission to the museum is $11, and is free for OHS members and all Multnomah County residents.
Since 1898, the Society has served as Oregon's primary research collection and museum about Oregon history. OHS has an extensive collection of historical pieces, including over 85,000 artifacts and 3 million photographs and films. It safeguards and presents Oregon's history through a museum, research library, traveling exhibits, school programs and website content. Learn more at WWW.OHS.ORG.
Why not call them by their correct name, which is bitts. A little research surely can't take all that much time.
@Richard: I don't believe 'research' is taught in J-school anymore. Or if it is, the ones hiired for this site didn't make it to J-school.
@hewhoo Yup. It's a shame. a J-school degree is about as usless as one from m-school. Jus' sayin...
Be really careful about those invasive species, some of them might be resistant to everything.
