JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - The Eugene RC Aeronauts took to the air with their remote-control planes on Labor Day.
"It takes a lot of practice, and a lot of work," said pilot Frank Blain. "I've crashed probably more than I care to think about."
Blain said he picked up the hobby as a young boy.
"I did that when I was just prob 12 or 13," he said, "and I got away from the thing for a long time, and about 20 years ago it started back up again and it's been nonstop since then."
The pilots said sending their mini models up into the air is something like an adrenaline rush.
"It's gratifying," said Al Barrington. "It's a lot of satisfaction to see something that you built fly and come back to earth in one piece and be able to fly again."
