Missing woman found dead in Waldo Lake

WALDO LAKE, Ore. -- A woman reported missing in the Waldo Lake area was found dead late Friday morning, Lane County Sheriff's office said.

LCSO reported that Barbara Helen Bergmann was missing from the Islet Campground near Waldo Lake at around 7 p.m. Thursday. The 74-year-old Bend woman was known to use a cane and was reported as "endangered" in the missing persons report.

Lane County Search and Rescue set up a search with multiple specialized units. A ground search team was aided by the Sheriff's Mounted Posse, scent tracking dogs, Eugene Mountain Rescue as well as units from Benton and Douglas counties.

Search and rescue teams found Bergmann in Waldo Lake just before noon on Friday.

The medical examiner is still determining what caused Bergmann's death.
