Food banks still feeling the pinch

Food banks still feeling the pinch

By Meghan Kalkstein

FLORENCE - If you have any good food left on your shelves at home, local food banks are in dire need of donations.

We checked in with the Florence Food Share Tuesday, last fall we first told you about their donation shortage. On this day their shelves are pretty well stocked, but they still need lots of goods. And because of rising food prices, they're seeing new lows in everything from flour, to corn.

"The issue of specific foods being used for fuels and different needs for them, other than food is making it really complicated when it comes to donations," says Executive Director Karen Lyn.

Usually they get lots of donations during the holidays, but spring tends to be a slow season.
