Slick roads make morning commute slippery

By KVAL Web Staff

Icy roads caused a traffic nightmare Thursday morning.

Many motorists had trouble navigating the slick streets, and ended up crashing, including one driver on the west bound Jefferson Street Bridge. Eugene Police tell us he spun out and hit the guardrail.

In another accident on the Beltline, Cami Zemba hit ice while taking her son to daycare and watched driver after driver do the same thing.

"We've been sitting here probably for an hour and even the incident police guy was swerving on his way here. There's a patch of ice there and people just aren't slowing down and they need to", said Zemba.

Oregon State Police report five accidents, and Eugene police report another six. No one was seriously injured.

Most occurred on overpasses and bridges, Which freeze over quickly.

Expect similar weather conditions for Friday morning.
