Fugitive, DUII suspect nabbed at I-84 crash scene
This is a press release courtesy of the Oregon State Police A Vancouver, Washington man wanted on felony warrants and an intoxicated man who disobeyed Oregon State Police (OSP) troopers and drove through the crash scene on Interstate 84 west of La Grande were both arrested Friday afternoon.
According to OSP Senior Trooper Eric Madsen, on June 13, 2008 at approximately 4 p.m. OSP troopers and Oregon Department of Transportation employees responded to a reported commercial motor vehicle crash on Interstate 84 near milepost 259 west of La Grande. The crash involved two commercial motor vehicles, one of which was loaded with three hydraulic cranes.
OSP troopers began arriving within two minutes of the crash followed by ODOT personnel to assist with traffic control.
The at-fault commercial truck driver identified as Trevor Ralph Colby, age 39, from Vancouver, Washington, was arrested as a Fugitive From Justice after a check through OSP Southern Command Center dispatch revealed three Clark County, Washington felony warrants charging Assault in the Second Degree, Burglary, and Bail Jump. He was lodged at the Union County Correctional Facility. While troopers and ODOT were at the scene, a westbound vehicle occupied by two people failed to obey orders by OSP troopers to stop. Troopers finally got the vehicle stopped and saw the driver and passenger were very visibly impaired. Subsequent to further investigation OSP arrested the driver, Jesse Ray Stuart, age 43, from Halfway, for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII) and lodged him at UCCF. He was also cited for Failing to Obey a Police Officer, Possession of Less than 1 oz. of Marijuana, and Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol in a Motor Vehicle. |
