2 accused of beating roommate in sex abuse retaliation plot

MEDFORD, Ore. (AP) — Two Medford men have been charged with attempted murder in what authorities say was a plot to beat their roommate with a wrench and baton in retaliation for sexually assaulting two teenage girls.
As a result of the investigation into the beating, the victim was arrested and charged with sexual assault.
The attacks hadn't been previously reported to authorities.
The Medford Mail Tribune reported Tuesday that the suspects in the beating are 18-year-old Moses LaPorte and 19-year-old Christopher Garrett.
The sheriff's office spokeswoman says they lured 23-year-old Mark Alexander Tabor to a remote campground Saturday night with the ruse that it was a "guys' night."
But after he was hit, Tabor escaped and called authorities.
Tabor was booked into jail on sex abuse charges. LaPorte and Garrett were booked on charges of attempted murder and assault.

When did the two vigilantes decide that their roommate was guilty and should be put to death? Did they witness the alleged sexual assault? Why did they choose to not stop the assault when it was occurring? Or, did they just get pissed that he didn't share?
hopefully they will end up in the same cell if our criminal justice system makes a huge mistake by imprisoning them
While it is never a good idea for someone to take the law into their own hands, it is equally understandable that some people get overly frustrated with the impotence of the criminal justice system. The two were probably overcharged with the hope that would force a plea bargain. A good defender could probably beat that charge, but it would be risky not to accept a lesser charge (that is the prosecution position more than likely). I have said many times that instead of charging people with dozens of charges, which pumps their books, pick the appropriate charge, and if a conviction is the result, use the proper punishment and follow through. Now they (the prosecution and defense) will argue that there are too many cases to go to trial with. Well I say you made the bed, now sleep in it. Start doing the right thing and eventually it could be back under control.Â
After he was "hit' he escaped and they are charging them with "attempted murder"? What a bunch of crap...what about maybe assault? How about a medal for trying to clean up rubbish and being good enough to take it to the woods so no innocents had to witness what the ____________get his butt whooped!!!
So they get attempted murder and he gets sexual assault, who do you think is going to get more time?
Â
Give them a Friken medal and nuke the perv ,
Â
And if the judge lets the perv slide, make him live next door to the judge and his teenage daughter, maybe then they will start to worry about who they are letting out on the streets
I think the people who support what these guys did, which was the right thing to do need to go riot at the courthouse until these guys are released with no record, maybe then these judges will get the message that the people are tired of this. Bet the perv will think twice before ever attempting trying this again, and if he had a brain he'd never do it again, but they ALWAYS do it again. I was fondled in the bathroom in grade school by a 6th grader, just touched, and to this day I have a fear of public bathrooms,I'm 6' 200lbs,I can take care of myself, but this is always in the back of my mind when I enter a restroom. Things like this mess with you, forever, that was 30+ years ago. They just did what this state doesn't have the balls to do,punish someone.
These boys were standing-up for girls who were too ashamed or to frightened to stand-up for themselves and now they are in BIG trouble. I think the atempted murder charge is a ploy to get a plea deal unless they said they planed to kill him.
Moses and Christopher need to be punished for taking the law in there own hands. They should be given a stern scolding and 30 days probation, with no criminal racord,,if i was the judge.  :)
So now the two concerned citizens, just because they were correcting a problem, are going to get punished worse than the real criminal. This is one of those situations where I wish the "justice system" wasn't involved.
