Suspected car thieves critically injured in 100 mph chase
FIFE, Wash. -- Two suspected car thieves were critically hurt when they crashed a stolen car on I-5 while attempting to elude police.
Auburn police Commander Mike Hiram said an officer spotted the car getting onto Highway 18 just before midnight.
The officer followed while waiting for backup and turned on his lights and siren after the suspected thieves merged onto southbound I-5 near the Federal Way truck scales.
The driver of the stolen car sped off, reaching speeds of 100 mph, Hiram said.
As officers were backing off the chase in Fife, the driver lost control while changing lanes and rolled the car over. Both men were ejected from the car.
Medics took the two men to a local hospital where they were listed in critical condition. No one else was hurt, but another car did sustain some damage from flying debris, Hiram said.
The southbound lanes of the freeway were closed for several hours through the night for the crash investigation but reopened around 5 a.m.

  @IAMHIGHÂ
Always nice to see you in a good mood Iam!  =) Â
@flor3nc3 You to flo, plenty of things to giggle about=0)
I'm sure they can pay for their hospital bill...NOT.
I love a story with a happy ending
Plus these guys got a lesson in physics......unexpected impact with the windshield...good times
Nice to see this result. Â I think thieves should be hanged.
Another Monte Carlo off the road and two scumbags in jail. Â I'd call that a win-win.
Â
 @Arch StantonÂ
Â
It's not a win you idiot.Â
Â
They are in the hospital in critical condition.Â
Â
I am certain they have no health insurance.Â
Â
Who do you think pays for all the destruction, devastation and medical costs?
Â
The criminals?
@Jason Marks @Arch Stanton I like your point and you show abilities that are becoming more rare these days and that is the ability to see more than the moment. More and more these days we see people having knee jerk reactions to everything. "If it feels good say it or do it, no matter what the future holds". Government does it all the time, it is called no conceptual abilities. Again I like your thinking, just don't care for the name calling.
Â
Â
Soup.....
Â
I appreciate your comment.Â
Â
Point noted.
Other than damage to the car, his sounds like a win, i.e., two thieves off the streets and not going into the catch and release program. Â The down side? Â Guess who is paying for their extensive and expensive hospital costs.
 @Reis Kash are you sure it didnt look like that before they stole it. this story makes me sad, to bad they lived
Oh man, that was someones Monte Carlo...bummer!
