2 injured in 4-car crash on Hwy 20 near Albany

ALBANY, Ore. - A truck crossed into oncoming traffic, triggering a 4-car crash that injured 2 people on Highway 20 east of Albany Wednesday afternoon, Oregon State Police said.

The crash happened when a 2006 Ford F350 driven by Gregory Schmick, 49, of Silverton crossed into oncoming traffic on Hwy 20 around 3 p.m., according to Senior Trooper Scott Granger.

Schmick's truck crashed into a 2012 GMC Sierra driven by Gerald Fritz, 47, of Lebanon.

A third vehicle driven by Stanley Pesek, 82, of Oroville, California, moved to avoid the Ford pickup but was struck in the passenger side. A fourth vehicle driven by April Hall, 34, of Lyons was also struck by the Ford pickup, police said.

Pesek and his passenger, Trudy Pesek, were pulled from the wreckage and taken by ambulance to Albany General Hospital.
