EUGENE, Ore. - A west Eugene business owner was the target of a possible hate crime.

Someone threw a rock through the window of a business owned by a black man just before midnight Friday night.

A note accompanying the rock contained racial slurs and derogatory comments about police officers.

"They threw a rock and hit it first, and they hit it again, and the rock didn't go through the door so they thought they'll throw it through the window, so they threw through the window," said Ron.

When the rock shattered this window, a neighbor from across the street heard the noise and came running out, but didn't see anyone.
The rock was found inside a bag with a note attached to it.

What the note says is too tough for Ron to talk to us about.

There are references to a failed drug test and racial slurs as well as attacking police officers.

"We do drug testing. It's what we do and we actually stop a whole lot of people from cheating. Some people don't like it, but my goal is to stop this from happening," Ron said.

Ron is offering a $500 reward for the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved.

Police are asking that anyone with information about this bias crime call (541) 692-5111.
