ALBANY, Ore. -- Could the Wells Fargo Bank branch exchange $1,700 in $50 bills for $1,700 in $100 bills?

The clerk obliged, processing the transacton.

Then the man started pulling money out of a shirt pocket, putting money in his pockets, distracting the clerk.

The transaction ceased. The man left -- and went across town to another Wells Fargo, where he asked the clerk to exchange $1,800 in $100s for $1,800 in $50s.

This time, the transaction ended with the bank coming up short $700 on the deal, according to authorities.

Albany police are asking the public for help identifying a man they believe was involved in a "quick change" scheme at the two banks on June 26.

Police released security camera footage of the suspect July 3.

The male suspect is identified as approximately 50 years old, of Middle Eastern descent, with an accent described as possibly Arabic.

He is further described as approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall with an average build, dark complexion and black thinning hair with a short ponytail.

The suspect was described as wearing a white long-sleeved shirt, a gold watch with a black face and a ring on a finger of his right hand.

The ring is described as having multiple stones on the face of it, with one stone missing.
