Woman's body found at the base of Oregon's highest bridge
According to Oregon Department of Transportation's "Oregon Coastal Highway Bridges" Web site, the Thomas Creek Bridge "is the highest bridge in Oregon at 345 feet and spans a deep ravine on the Oregon Coast." By KVAL Web StaffBROOKINGS, Ore. -- A woman's body was found at the base of Oregon's highest bridge. The victim has not been positively identified. Officers assigned to the Curry County Major Crime Team are conducting a suspicious death investigation. At approximately 8 p.m., Oregon State Police and Curry County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of a possible body at the base of the Thomas Creek Bridge located on Highway 101 between Brookings and Gold Beach. OSP detectives are leading the investigation as part of the Curry County Major Crime Team in conjunction with the Curry County District Attorney's Office. Investigators remained on scene overnight and are continuing the investigation Thursday.
