EUGENE, Ore. -- A grisly murder on a Greyhound bus has been the talk of two countries all week, but will it lead to new safety measures on bus travel?

The murder happened as passengers were riding across the Canadian prairies around 9 p.m. Wednesday.  Witnesses said the suspect stood up and stabbed 22-year-old Tim Mclean more than 60 times.

Passengers at the Greyhound Bus depot in Eugene said they do not want a security crackdown, even though a simple bag check could have caught the hunting knife carried on by the suspect.

The crimes begs the question though: is security needed on all transportation?

Currently there is no screening process for bus passengers: nothing to protect them from stabbings, shootings and other violent crimes.

A Greyhound spokeswoman said ticket sales remain steady since the incident and that bus travel is safe.
