Need some space? Police to focus on drivers following too close
Beltline: From bumper-to-bumper to something better?

EUGENE, Ore. - The "If you can read this bumper sticker, you're too close" bumper sticker is getting a little help of the "protect and serve" variety: Officers with the Eugene Police Department's Traffic Enforcement Unit plan to focus on drivers who follow to close to other drivers on Beltline and I-105.

Police officers stop drivers for violations every day, but certain violations continue to be a frequent occurrence and major cause of vehicle collisions in Eugene, Eugene Police said.

Police said the intent of the operation is to educate the public and to reduce the number of crashes and conflicts between vehicles.

Multiple officers will enforce all traffic laws with attention primarily on following to close.
