By KVAL Web StaffHomecoming events 5:30 p.m., Parade, EMU -- This year marks the first street parade for UO Homecoming. The event is a variation on the former tradition of the canoe fete in the Mill Race. There are more than 40 entries in this first year including Harley Davidson-riding administrators, the marching band, cheerleaders and the football team. Parade marshals will be ASUO President Sam Dotters-Katz and UO Athletic Director Pat Kilkenny. The parade will end at the EMU amphitheater for the pep rally. ROUTE 6:30 p.m., Pep Rally, EMU -- Following the parade, there will be pep rally in the EMU Amphitheater with prizes awarded for the parade and door decorating contests. The cheerleaders and marching band will lead the crowd in festivities. 7 p.m., Mock Presidential Debate, Knight Law Center, Room 175 -- Clark Honors College students, members of the UO Forensics team and students from the Freshman Seminar on the 2008 Presidential Debates will participate in a mock debate. Two students, one assuming the Obama platform and the other posing as McCain, will enter into three debates regarding the candidates' positions on foreign affairs, the economy and moral/social issues. UO students from a freshman seminar regarding the presidential debates will judge the debates. Saturday 8:30 a.m., Duck Dash 5K Run and Walk, Knight Law Center -- The 5-kilometer (3.1-mile) race starts at historic Hayward Field, winds through the campus passing many historic buildings and finishes in the courtyard behind the Knight Law Center. 5 p.m., Official UO Tailgate Party -- Mallard Park will be the location for 1,000 families and alumni to attend the sold-out tailgate and watch party when the Ducks take on the UCLA Bruins.
