EUGENE, Ore. - Ten-year-old Doane is a Duck fan from head to toe. She couldn't wait to make the trip from Portland with her dad for Saturday's football game, and she was glowing following the win over UCLA.

Her enthusiasm was quickly dampened.

"We were just parked right there," said Doane. "We came and everything was gone."

Someone had broken into their car. They had parked it at the Skinner Butte parking lot. Missing was some of Doane's Duck gear, a flute and a backpack full of insulin and syringes. Doane has diabetes.

Her grandma, Gloria Rust, couldn't believe it when she heard what happened.

"They probably thought they hit the lottery with all those syringes," said Rust.

Also stolen? Rifles and knives. Doane and her dad had just been target shooting. They called police, but Rust said officers wouldn't respond.

"I was just very frustrated," said Rust.

The family spent Sunday afternoon scouring bushes and digging through garbage cans near the parking lot hoping the thieves left something behind.

Luckily for Doane, Rust, who lives in Brownsville, had some extra insulin at her house, but that doesn't change Doane's outlook on what happened Saturday night.

"It's not very fun to have stuff stolen," said Doane. "It's not fun at all because some of that stuff you can't replace."

Eugene police did not to respond to the call even though firearms were missing from the car. Police said they had an extremely high call volume Saturday night and had to rank their calls depending on the threat to human safety. This call didn't rank very high.
