Nader fills Bagdad Theater during Portland visit
By Associated PressEUGENE, Ore. (AP) - The state may not be in play this election season, but Oregon has managed to attract one presidential candidate. Independent presidential candidate Ralph Nader is made appearances in Portland Monday evening at a news conference and a fund-raiser. He is running in Oregon as a member of the Peace party and in Washington as an independent.
Nader discussed the economic crisis, Oregon's environmental initiatives and other issues that senators Barack Obama and John McCain have taken "off the table."
Nader had to cancel two Eugene appearances Monday because of flight delays. He is a longtime consumer advocate who has run for president several times.
He is on the ballot in the District of Columbia and 45 states, including Oregon. (Copyright 2008 by The Associated Press. All Rights Reserved.)
