President of the United States

The major parties nominated Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., and Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill. The pair debated three times on national television.

Other candidates include Peace Party candidate Ralph Nader and Constitution Party candidate Chuck Baldwin.

Senator from Oregon

Sen. Gordon Smith, R-Ore., faces what could be his closest race yet against Democrat Jeff Merkley, speaker of the state's House of Representatives. The two have staked out their differences on the issues.

David Walker of KVAL News sat down with the two major party candidates and a third party candidate to discuss the issues.

Mayor of Eugene

Kitty Piercy seeks her second term against former two-term mayor Jim Torrey. KVAL News asked the candidates a series of questions to help voters better understand who they are and where they stand on topics like jobs, downtown, the West Eugene Parkway and their leadership style.
 County Commissioner for North Eugene

Bobby Green is seeking another term on the Lane County Board of Commissioners. Rob Handy is running against him for the job. KVAL News asked them about staffing at the jail.

 State Treasurer

Allen Alley is a Republican -- a former adviser to Democratic Gov. Ted Kulongoski. Ben Westlund is a Democrat -- and a former Republican turned Independent candidate for governor. Both men want to be the state's next treasurer. KVAL News asked them why.

 Secretary of State

Three candidates, one job: Oregonians pick a new secretary of state this fall. David Walker from KVAL News sat down with each of the three candidates -- Democrat Kate Brown, Republican Rick Dancer and Green Party candidate Seth Woolley.
