EUGENE, Ore. -- Here's what's going on where around Eugene and Springfield this Halloween weekend. If you know of a haunted house, concert, play or other event, please add the information to the story.

Late night concert
Reeble Jar and Eleven Eyes at the McDonald Theater, 1010 Willamette St., in Eugene, Ore., at 11 p.m. Tickets are $10. Party Halloween late night with Reeble Jar playing til 2 a.m. Eleven Eyes opens the show and also will sit in for some awesome jams.

Spooky Splash Dance
Eugene Recreation’s Aquatics Program invites middle school students to bring a costume and their best dance moves to the haunted Echo Hollow dance floor and pool at 1655 Echo Hollow Rd from 7:45 p.m. to 9:45 p.m. Oct. 31. It will be a fun-packed evening with dancing and dance competitions. Middle school I.D. required; admission $3. For more information, call 682-5525.

House of Spiders
spiderwebEugene Recreation’s Youth and Families Program invites you to grab a costume, bring some kids, and come to the River House Community Center, 301 N. Adams, to kick up your heels at the free “House of Spiders” costume party and barn dance on Oct. 31 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The 5th annual House of Spiders is a community event that offers music, dancing, face painting, popcorn, hot drinks, and good company. Parents must accompany children to this event.

Fun Family Community Harvest Party
Fun Family Community Harvest Party at the Fairfield Church of the Nazarene, 1052 Fairfield Ave., in Eugene, Ore., from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Dinner, carnival type booths, candy, arts, crafts, face painting and an evening of warmth, fun, and food. Welcome to everyone!

Trunk n'Treat
Valley River Baptist Church at 1145 Willagillespie Rd. in Eugene, Ore., will be decorating the inside of car trunks and passing out candy from the church parking lot. Instead of door to door, kids will go car to car. Trunk n'Treat is a fun and safe way to trick or treat. Time: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Rocky Horror Show
The Rocky Horror Show runs Oct. 30 through Nov. 8 at Actors Cabaret of Eugene Tickets are $19.00-$35.95 for the 8 p.m. show with a special midnight Halloween performance.

Harvest Open House
Centro Latino Americano hosts a Harvest Open House, 944 5th Ave., 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Friday, Oct. 31,with DJ Music, Danze de los Diablos, Lane ESD Children’s Mural, art, food, and door prizes.

Dracula the ballet
Dracula comes to life in Eugene Ballet Company's spine chilling drama set to a haunting musical score Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 2 at 2 p.m. Tickets at the Hult Center at 682-5000 or www.hultcenter.org
 
There was indeed a real Count Dracula. His castle still stands in the Carpathian Mountains of Romania and is visited annually by thousands of tourists.
 
Vampirism has been the subject of countless literary works. Even Lord Byron began a short story on the subject. In the early 19th century, dramas dealing with vampires were a craze throughout Europe. Three full length operas utilized the legend. Anne Rice's "Interview with The Vampire" and "The Vampire Lestat" have been best sellers for years.

The Chamber of Darkness
Halloween night will be the final night for The Chamber of Darkness 2008. We will open the crypt doors, located at 24800 HWY 99W across from Monroe City Park at 7 p.m.  We will remain open and provide what nightmares are made of until 11 p.m (or until all have passed through). Advanced tickets may be purchased from Monroe High School seniors for $4, or for $5 at the door. All proceeds from the event are donated to local charities.

Springfield City Hall
Little ghouls and boo!-ys haunt the halls of government Friday at City Hall in Springfield, Ore. Youngsters and their parents are invited to trick or treat from department to department in City Hall from 3 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 31. Included in the plans is the Springfield library. | MORE

Kids in costume play for free at Rainbow Park and Playground
All kiddos 9 and under that are dressed up in their costumes can play for free in the indoor showroom at Rainbow Park and Playground, 90496 Hwy 99 in Eugene, Ore., on Halloween from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.! Adults are always free and encouraged to dress up as well! Please no bloody or horror costumes or weapons.
