Boy Scouts scouting for food to fight hunger
EUGENE, Ore. - A group of Boy Scouts braved the rain Saturday morning to help fight hunger. The scouts held their annual food drive at their headquarters in East Eugene. We caught up with Pack 84 as the donations came pouring in.
KVAL News asked the first graders why they were helping collect food.
"It will help by giving them more strength," said Harrison Boyst.
"They don't have very much food and they really need food because they don't have that much money," said Jacob Flaherty.
The boys were right-on. The need is bigger than ever. The food drive helps both St. Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army fill their holiday food boxes. Both organizations expect to have a record number of people in need of donations this year.
