EUGENE, Ore. -- A man holding what looked like a bomb robbed a bank in Eugene, Ore., this morning.

Shortly after 10 a.m., a man holding what looked like an explosive device entered the Umpqua Bank on Donald Street and demanded money from a teller. The suspect left northbound on Donald Street with an undisclosed amount of money.

Witnesses described the suspect to police as a white male with dark eyes, about 6-feet-2-inches tall with a stocky build.

At the time of the robbery he was wearing a two-tone synthetic jacket (light grey or light blue and dark blue or black), blue pants of an unknown type, and a black ski mask or hood over his face, according to police.

Eugene Police and a Springfield canine unit responded within minutes but did not locate the suspect.

Anyone with information about this robbery or the possible identity of the suspect is asked to call Detective Mel Thompson at (541) 682-5187 or the Eugene Police Investigations Tip Line at (541) 682-8888.
