EUGENE, Ore. -- Police negotiators talked a wanted man down -- out of an attic crawlspace.

Ancle Price Reed Jr. was wanted on suspicion of first degree sex abuse and burglary after a Eugene, Ore., girl woke up early this morning to find a man in her room, touching her. Based on the family's description, police suspected Reed, who is a registered sex offender.

Eugene police K9 and patrol officers searched for the suspect and believed he might have fled to his apartment. Officers stood by near the residence to wait for a search warrant to be obtained, but in the meantime police got the suspect’s wife’s permission to search the apartment.

After entering the apartment, officers determined that the suspect was hiding in the attic crawlspace. Crisis negotiators made verbal contact and talked him into coming out peacefully.

Reed also had an unrelated arrest warrant from the municipal court.
