Shorewood Packaging closing Springfield, Ore., plant
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. -- Shorewood Packaging plans to close its Springfield, Ore., plant, putting about 100 people out of work.
The plant, built in 1995, supplied packaging to the nearby Sony Disc Manufacturing.
Sony closed in 2003. Shorewood general manager Bob Lennon said most employees will be laid off when the facility closes on Dec. 19.
A small number of people will be kept on until February to help close down the plant. An office with about a dozen sales and customer service employees will remain here.
The company is also closing a plant in Roanoke, Va.
