Eugene in rain, Portland in chains
By KVAL Web StaffEUGENE, Ore. -- Eugene in rain, Portland in chains: the arctic blast holding the City of Roses in an icy embrace didn't translate into freezing temperatures 100 miles to the south. The line of demarcation around Salem is a stark contrast between a rainy winter day and one that has brought a city to a standstill. What a difference even 50 miles makes, as shown in these two camera shots from Interstate 5.
The two forecasts continue to diverge, with Portland seeing more snow and freezing temperatures and Eugene expecting more rain mixed with sleet or snow.
