CSI: Eugene? Hit show features local product

By KVAL Web StaffEUGENE, Ore. -- A man appears covered in blood with no memory of how it got there. Now a team of crime scene investigators in Miami, Fla., must solve the mystery -- with the help of a device built in Eugene, Ore. Monday night's episode of "CSI: Miami" features a HydroCel Geodesic Sensor Net, a product of Eugene-based Electrical Geodesics Inc. "CSI: Miami" airs at 10 p.m. PST on CBS. Don Tucker PhD, CEO of Electric Geodesics, flew to Miami Beach, Fla., to assist in the filming of tonight's episode. The episode will feature a 128-channel HydroCel Geodesic Sensor Net recording EEG from an amnesic patient. EGI, which is both an equipment supplier and a scientific research lab, is located in the Riverfront Research Park across from the University of Oregon. The nets like the one featured on the show are used in real life in research, flight and driving simulators, sleep laboratories, Neonatal Intensive Care Units, epilepsy centers, hospitals and other applications, according to the company's Web site. |
