EUGENE, Ore. -- Barflies across Eugene were treated to an unexpected Valentine's Day surprise: a zombie swarm.
A crew of over 150 ghoulishly dressed revelers participated in the fourth annual Eugene Zombie Walk, a death-themed pub crawl that commenced at the Pioneer Cemetery on the University of Oregon campus and ended at the Horsehead Tavern on Eighth and Olive street.
The event was organized by the Undead Citizens Alliance, a zombie collective whose MySpace mission statement is “demonstrating for the right to life … of thedead.”
“Valentine’s day is such a force-fed, insincere, obligated holiday,” said Zombie Walk organizer Ian Dustrial. “We chose to do something fun instead.”
Many onlookers were caught off-guard by the pack of zombie pranksters, who covered themselves in fake blood and moaned refrains such as “We want brains” as they lurched across town.
During Zombie Walk, blood is the accessory du jour for Zombies with of exacting style.
To make your own fake blood, combine the following ingredients:
- 1 cup corn syrup
- 1 tbsp water
- 2 tbsp red food coloring
- 1 tsp yellow food coloring
Douse face, hands and body and the zombies won't have a clue you're not undead.
